Best Way To Quit Smoking
After several failed attempts to quit smoking, retired banker Geoff Spice, decided he had discovered the easy way to quit smoking: he would strand himself on an island. Smoking 30 cigarettes a day, he just couldn’t find a way to quit smoking that worked for him, so in a desperate attempt to quit smoking for good he called Dave Hill, who owns an uninhabited island off of Scotland and set up a deal.
With only a cellphone for emergancy Mr. Spice stranded himself on Mr. Hill’s island called Sgarabhaigh (don’t ask me how to pronounce that) for a month. I’m not sure is being camped out on a 40 acre island for a month is the best way to quit smoking but I have to give him props for trying. This is how desperate some smokers become to find a way to quit smoking.
Even though there are many people who claim to have effective ways to quit smoking, as you can see from this story, they don’t always work for everyone. Obvious Mr. Spice couldn’t find one that worked for him. I’m wondering if he tried hypnosis, since that seems to have the best results?
Imagine placing yourself on a island with only sheep and seals for company in order to quit smoking. I wonder how successful he will be? Is 30 days without smoking enough time to get rid of the mental cravings? I would doubt it, but if he manages to convince himself that psychologically he doesn’t need to smoke any more it just might work. Most of us, on the other hand, are going to need to remove those mental cravings and bad habits with a little more help.
Which is why I say that the best way to quit smoking is always going to be one that focuses on your mental desire to smoke, not just your physical addiction which is usually overcome in a week. I’m afraid that after 30 days without a smoke the first thing Geoff Spice might want to do when he gets off is light up. Hopefully he’s taken some stop smoking hypnotherapy recordings with him.
One last thing about this way to quit smoking. This story came out originally in August and I can not find any follow up stories to see if he actually quit smoking or not. If anyone reading this knows please leave a comment.
